Court warns of jury-service scam

The 16th Judicial Circuit of Missouri is warning Jackson County residents about a telephone scam in which callers falsely claim to be court officials or law enforcement officers. The callers tell residents they have missed jury service and demand immediate payment of a fine to avoid arrest.

The Court will never call you to demand payment or threaten arrest over the phone. The Court communicates with prospective jurors by mailed summons and, for those who opt in, by text or e-mail through the eJuror system. If you receive a call like this, do not provide any payment or personal information. Hang up and contact the Jury Office directly using the phone number on your official summons.
